Old Russellville First Baptist Church

Founded in 1867, First Baptist Church has stood at the heart of Russellville for generations. After worshipping in other spaces during its earliest years, the congregation built a white frame church in 1893, followed by its first brick church in 1909–1910.

This drawing remembers an earlier chapter in the church’s long architectural story, a place shaped by Sunday mornings, familiar faces, hymns, weddings, funerals, and generations of Franklin County families passing through its doors.

More than a church building, it represents the kind of place that becomes woven into the memory of a town. As Russellville grew and changed around it, First Baptist continued to grow with the community, leaving an architectural and spiritual footprint that remains part of the city today.

Old First Baptist Church preserves a glimpse of that history and the Russellville that generations before us knew.
