America 250
Created in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary (1776-2026), this drawing honors the communities, landmarks, and people that have shaped The Shoals for generations. From historic courthouses and churches to bridges, theaters, and industry, each element represents a chapter in the story of Northwest Alabama and the enduring spirit of the communities we call home.
The Shoals has long been a place where history and innovation meet. Native American heritage, early frontier settlements, the Tennessee River, music, Industry, education, and faith have all helped define this corner of Alabama. For more than two centuries, the cities of Florence, Tuscumbia, Sheffield, and Muscle Shoals have grown together while preserving the stories that make each community unique.
Rather than celebrating a single place, this piece celebrates an entire region – its architecture, its people, and its legacy. Every building included was chosen because it represents a piece of our shared history and a reminded that the places we preserve today become the stories future generations inherit.
Magnolia and Stone exist to preserve places like these – not only for their beauty, but for their history, memories, and communities the continue to represent. As America marks 250 years on independence, may this piece serve as a tribute to The Shoals and to the enduring spirit of those who have called it home.
